It’s not easy to just forget. You can believe anything you want. Tell yourself things ended for a reason, or that if things were meant to be, they would’ve worked out. Tell yourself that people come and go in this life, that it’s nature, and there’s nothing you could’ve done to stop it. You can tell yourself anything you want, and maybe it will even be enough to convince yourself for a while that you’re okay - but that doesn’t means it hurts any less.

Sometimes you need to remind yourself that you were the one who carried you through the heartache. You are the one who sits with the cold body on the shower floor, and picks it up. You are the one who feeds it, who clothes it, who tucks it into bed, and you should be proud of that. Having the strength to take care of yourself when the world is trying to bleed you dry, that is the strongest thing in the universe.
